Echo

I gathered daffodils
Searching for Narcissus
Wearing womanhood like water
To hide my thirst
Hoping he’d discover
Himself in me
That I might hold
The bloom of his youth
Frozen in my eyes
Cherishing how
I was never an Echo alone
