Atlantis

After the flood
We learned to breathe salt water
Atlantis’ abandoned daughters
We became others
Unexpectant mothers
With breaching tails, just scales
Empowered
So phenomenal
That late attempts at rescue from our submerged realm
Were as death to these gills
Our unlearned breaths stilled
By the airs of men
The sons Atlantean
Who were saved to love
The sirens
Of the sea
